YCN hand in day…

Somehow I managed to not finish my Ted Baker YCN project until I was on the train into London to hand it in, I really don’t know how this happened! I started it off so early and then got distracted by other bits and bobs going on, I vow never ever to do this again after turning into a complete bitch on hand in day after only eating 2 pieces of toast all day and having very little sleep.

Anyway, this is how it turned out…

As you can see I basically made the window display into a mini greyhound racing track…the idea is that it will have wheels inside the store so that people can go in and manually race the little doggies around the track. The glittery lettering and little hounds took ridiculously long to make but I’m so glad I put the effort in as I think these really make it. The lights were a bit of a last minute touch (luckily I had them hanging around from a previous project!) but I think they look great and in a real life window display would really stand out at night time. The brief stated Ted Baker were into doing fun giveaways for customers, so I made the little red rosette as something that would come attached to the carrier bag (so people in the street would see it too) but also would double up as a pin badge. I was gutted the rosette was a little bit rushed as I managed to lose the ribbon in my chaotic bedroom and found it half an hour before I had to leave…this is something I really wish I had a bit more time to do, I might make a little perfect one for myself anyway as I think it’s a pretty awesome little badge!

So, at half 3 myself and a few friends headed into London to had in our masterpieces. I was so glad we just missed rush hour as I don’t think my model would have made it through rush hour on the tube! We handed them in to YCN about an hour before the deadline, then headed to a lovely little diner to reward ourselves for all our hard work.

I didn’t take this photo as I didn’t have my camera on me (I really must invest in a new little digi cam to always have in my bag) but I really liked the front of the YCN building. You can’t see to well in this photo but the stripy coloured bits and ‘YCN 72′ are made from large sequins that move in the breeze for that shimmery effect.

Even though this project is all done and handed in any comments on it would be much appreciated…hopefully some constructive criticism will help with future projects!

Much Love,

Charlotte Jane x
